Too many push prep course testimonials to share in Too many push prep course testimonials to share in one reel. 

So let's get into some facts that often surprise people. 

1️⃣ The SOGC and ACOG both recommend bodily autonomy and choice over labouring positions. They recommend against pushing flat on your back because it can lengthen labor, increase pain, negatively impact the pelvic floor, and interfere with oxygen flow to baby.

2️⃣ Having an epidural does not mean you have to push on your back. 

3️⃣ When women are given no instruction, most naturally push with an open glottis - meaning, they don't breath hold. “Hold your breath, count to 10, and push like you’re pooping” is not evidence-based and often works against the physiology of birth (and is linked to more hemorrhoids and pelvic floor pressure issues postpartum). 

4️⃣ You can train your body and nervous system for birth. The goal isn't to control birth - the goal is to build your capacity to handle whatever happens. 

More women deserve this information. There is so much we can do during pregnancy to reduce the risk of long-term pelvic floor trauma, and it starts with education.

There's so much I wish everybody knew about birth prep that just simply is not taught in traditional birth classes. We're combining evidence based birth education with proven Pilates based training techniques to reduce intra-abdominal pressure, reduce bladder incontinence, diastasis recti and pelvic organ prolapse (fyi 50% of women develop prolapse in their lifetime and there is SOOO much we can do to reduce this proactively).

We're talking about improving pushing, reducing tearing, reducing pelvic pain, and having a significantly easier postpartum recovery.

Here's what I'd tell myself if I could go back 7 y Here's what I'd tell myself if I could go back 7 years to when I was a brand new first time mom..

1️⃣ You are not a failure because your baby won't latch. Please ease up on the guilt. 

2️⃣ Your worth as a mother is not measured in ounces of breast milk produced 

3️⃣ The hormonal roller coaster you are on in early postpartum is the largest "crash" in any human being's life. You are not crazy for randomly crying. Also, asking for help is a sign of strength not weakness. 

4️⃣ It's ok if your jeans don't fit for a while. Or ever again, actually. They are so 2016 anyways. Go shopping ❤️

5️⃣ You did not cause your prolapse or incontinence. You are not broken. You can and will get back to all the activities you love. You can heal. You can be stronger than you ever dreamed. 

6️⃣ F*ck the laundry. Hold the baby more. No you cannot "spoil them". 

7️⃣ If you can't whip your boob out in front of them, they shouldn't be visiting you in the first 2 weeks postpartum. 

8️⃣ Don't feel pressured to do anything with your baby's sleep that doesn't feel right to you. Trust yourself more. 

9️⃣ Talk to the moms you see at the park with their strollers. They are as lonely as you are. You will meet some incredible new friends. 

🔟 Everything is a phase, and it doesn't last. You will find yourself again. I promise. 

And take more pictures - even if you feel ugly. You'll marvel at them one day and treasure them so much.

I had upper diastasis recti. Incorporating overhea I had upper diastasis recti. Incorporating overhead arm work was KEY in rehab. 

Remember the cue "arms up, ribs down". ✨

TIP: learn how to separate an overhead reach (aka shoulder extension) from back extension (aka arching your spine). Learn to breathe into your diaphragm first. 

When you reach over your head, can you do it without arching your back or thrusting your ribs forward? 

Try it with me now. Put your phone down and lift both hands overhead like you're dancing the YMCA. What did your ribs want to do? Tell me! 😉

A wider infrasternal rib angle (sign is a permanently tighter bra strap) usually due to the pressure of the growing baby in pregnancy, can cause constant tension on your abdominal fascia and make it harder to improve diastasis. 

An inexpensive prop like a flex band is so useful. Tip: gently pull it apart as you bring the band overhead to generate more muscle activation. 

All of this and more is in the 12 week Core Restore course. 5 progressive workouts per week (15-30 min max), nutrition plans, 100 + on demand workouts, stretches, technique tips, pelvic health education, live classes with me and deep dives into exercise for prolapse, incontinence, diastasis, c-section rehab, back pain and full body strengthening.
